Renewable Energy

Mercantile Credit will look at all forms of alternative energy, but will always take into consideration any negative impact the production of such fuels may have on the environment. We are particularly aware that in some areas of non-fossil fuel production, marginal land is not used and extensive deforestation occurs. In other areas where rainfall is slight, irrigation can lead to shortages of water where water is already a precious commodity.

We have recently completed research into bio-fuel production in South East Asia and having conferred with governments, it appears there is enough marginal land to enable renewable energy plantations to exist in natural harmony with local ecology. We would look to build sustainable villages and schools for the local workforce, together with medical facilities and make available clean water up to World Health Organisation standards.

The environment is of particular concern to this company and we are extremely thorough in our diligence process regarding any investment within this sector. Waste to Energy is yet another important sector which we are looking at with great interest and again, we look to partner with companies who are providing innovative products, such as waste to energy plants with zero emissions.
